George C. Marshall High School is pleased to announce the hiring Doug Sawitzky as its new Head Girls’ Basketball Coach. Coach Sawitzky has a wealth of experience coaching basketball at Marshall High School, including 8 years as a boys’ varsity assistant, 3 years as a boys’ JV head coach, and the last 2 years as the head JV coach in our girls’ program. Coach Sawitzky has learned under 3 incredibly successful coaches at GCM Coach Hale, Coach Lin, and Coach Trivisonno. He was on the varsity staff for the first 3 district championships in GCM Boys’ Basketball history and his last 4 JV teams finished a combined 48-7. Coach Sawitzky also has 7 years of AAU head coaching experience with the NOVA Cavaliers where he coached 10 athletes who went on to play college basketball. Coach Sawitzky works in the building as a school counselor.

I look forward to fostering a team-oriented culture across our program, that emphasizes maximizing potential and character.”
